A modern dredging technique; by using three hydraulically driven spuds and an hydraulically activated cardan on the articulated cutter ladder, narrow irrigation or cooling water canals and marina’s can now be dredged without having to use side cables and anchors. In wider canals or small lakes the dredger can be operated on three winches, the three spuds can be lowered on the deck, and the top of the cabin can be removed for passing of low bridges.

The standard range starting with an 8 inch or 200 mm up to 12 inch or 300 mm suction/discharge pipe diameter:

  • The 8” SM CSD-200, the smallest one in the series, is thus used for the smallest jobs. This machine is very easy to transport on one truck and simple and easy to operate, a good model to start-up a new dredging company.
  • The 10” SM CSD-250, the most popular and most sold model. Since the transport is still relatively simple and disassembly and assembly is very fast the machine can be mobilised in one day. This machine absolutely out-performed the traditional 10” CSD-250. Although the initial price of the 10” SM CSD-250 is about 10% higher compared to the traditional one, the 10”SM CSD-250 easily beats all 10” traditional CSD’s. Even traditional 12” cutter suction dredgers of other brands are often out-performed by this unique, powerful and self manoeuvring power machine.
  • The 12” SM CSD-300 biggest model is often used in Marina’s that are connected to the ocean, or North Sea. In these places a harsh environment caused by wind, waves, rain and low temperatures require a bigger pontoon and a bigger and more comfortable operating cabin. Also the quantities of dredged materials is often bigger.

All three types are equipped with the highest quality dredging equipment. Double walled, high-pressure wear resistant dredge pumps that are also easy to maintain. Directly driven robust cutter heads, robust winches and straight forward hydraulic systems using load-sensing variable plunger pumps and low pressure servo-control systems.

All Hollandsche Yssel self manoeuvring cutter suction dredgers have a main diesel engine and the dredge pump mounted on a rigid frame. The dredgers are equipped with double walled dredge pumps. These high efficiency double walled dredge pumps are directly driven by the main diesel engine, via a standard gearbox with integrated hydraulically activated clutch. The prime movers for the dredge pumps are modern marine diesel engines with low fuel consumption, and low NOx emission.

This combination results in the lowest possible costs per cubic meter of dredged material, minimum down time for changing of wearing parts and minimum cost of maintenance and spare part due to standardisation of components. The type designation of the Self Manoeuvring Cutter Suction Dredger relates to the diameter of the suction and delivery pipeline.
